a love that led to its own demise
like so many other tails
something that could have been predicted
but, alas, a doomed love prevails
the mouse that loved the cat
why couldn't the poor mouse see
that a love between predator and pray
is something that could never be
but even so the mouse tried on
to win the cats affection
but no matter how it tried
the mouse always met the cats rejection
until later that day the cat grew hungry
and trapped the mouse with the promise of love
the mouses love that was so strong
was something the cat had to get rid of
the cat ate the mouses heart first
so it would not feel its heart break
then the cat watched the sun rise
knowing the mouse would never awake
